I’m a dad, uncle, and godfather writing about my old toys and the ideologies I will pass on with them.
When I was a child, I played with my toys without realizing how I was inheriting particular worldviews part and parcel with these plastic playthings. Now, I want to be intentional about crafting the narratives that my loved ones learn as they play with toys and create new worlds in their imaginations and their real lives… And in case it’s not abundantly clear, I believe Black Lives Matter, so I want the way we play with toys to reflect that.
